In addition to providing a robust e-mail system, sleek browser and an aesthetic g.u.i for your interweb pages, Google now offers a way to monitor your energy usage. We’ve already read about Google going green late in the game, but now we are seeing some real world applications to their philosophical movement.
Google PowerMeter is a new, chart-tastic way of monitoring your home’s energy usage from month-to-month. Quite frankly, though long overdue, I really like this. We can talk and preach about conserving our energy at home all day, but the metrics speak louder than our nagging words. Peace of mind is my current motivation. Honestly, there’s no way I’m going out back to my meter and manually conducting compare and contrast readings while my roommate switches the tesla coil on and off.
You PlayStation3 players out there better sign up first. Your shit is hogging all the Texas energy.
