Longhorns Unite in Foreign Territory

January 8, 2009  |  Good

texasMonday was a day to remember in college football.  Much like the epic comeback of 2006, Colt McCoy must have gotten a 4th quarter txt message or twitter from Vince Young, cause his testicular fortitude exponentially rose as the last seconds ticked away. Coming from behind and humiliating the mad scientist Jim Tressell in Texas fashion was so heart pumping.
My crew speared the night with Ozona Bar and Grill, located on Greenville ave., expecting a delicious serving of $1 margaritas. Let me save you the time; lines were long, seating was scarce, and the wait staff was terrible. So we moved on to a more “game friendly” environment. Thus my amateur case of alcoholism just got worse. Located across the street from Ozona, rival Milo Butterfinger’s has won my heart and my liver @ $5/pitcher. Milo’s is your standard bar and grill (more bar than grill) with a plethora of HD tvs and ample seating. Because Texas Longhorn football is so awesome, even Milo’s was running out of room. We settled for a row of empty kegs in front of a triple lcd tv setup. The owner was kind enough to accompany us and went the extra mile to see that we were as comfortable as possible while destroying pitchers of shiner ($6) and Ohio State. As the game escalated, the local busboy tipped us about a booth opening up in front of the big screen. They knew how to woo me.
The night ended with rowdy, drunk, yelling and celebration as high fives and hugs were distributed. Katy, TX eat your heart out. Dallas now has a shimmer of hope at 5645 Yale Blvd. Colt McCoy has turned another corner, transforming himself more from the McBoy we saw in years past, to the McMan who skipped his way into the end-zone Monday. TEXAS FIGHT!
