I know things have looked pretty bleak for the big 3 American auto-makers, but you know things are bad when Asian automakers are feeling the pinch. Significant drops in U.S. sales are hitting Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda, sending their stocks plunging.

But the I really sensed trouble when I caught the newest Toyota commercial today, proclaiming  the Toyotathon of Toyotathons. That’s right – this is a Toyotathon so spectacular that it can only be described in terms of another Toyotathon. In this Toyotahon Toyotathon, you get the savings people from regular Toyotathons could only dream of in their wildest fantasies.

Not familiar with the glitz and pageantry that is Toyothan? If this is any indication, then this current Toyotahon of Toyothans is a really big deal. Either that, or things are so bleak that Toyota regarded this as their best angle : oh, if they thought a regular Toyothans blew their minds, wait till they get a load of this….

I never fully appreciated the scope of the current recession until now. Hope you enjoyed cars while you had ‘em.

I pray this Toyotathon of Toyotahons is unsuccessful, because if they make one cent of profit from this angle then the U.S. automakers are bound to follow suit. If you thought Dodge Truck Month was something, you’re going to trip balls at Truck Month Truck Month.
